After a run of very hot but light wind days I got a bit of a bonus windsurf
late this afternoon:) Relaxing day in the garden, doing exercises and
reading plus visit an old friend a day early as we are off to visit
Grandson Arlo tomorrow. Then a quick trip to Lidl I notice the wind has
increased as forecast which said we might get a couple of hours late
afternoon. The sun had disappeared as I headed to The Dip at 5 o clock and
with an ENE wind gusting to 20 mph I rigged my favourite combination the
282 with my new Lightning 7m. It wasn’t an ideal time to go out with the
tide coming in which meant sailing straight out into steep chop, not
pleasant but it smoothed off a little towards the red and white bouy. I got
my fastest run straight off and then as the sea became very lumpy the wind
eased a little and I was a fraction under but still had an hour and twenty
minutes out with no other windsurfers in sight:( The Dip is not a great
venue with tide high and coming in as the channel out of the River Deben
makes really steep chop which is very difficult to sail through!
I wasn’t going to take any windsurfing gear on our next short trip away
in the small campervan but there is a hint of some S/Westerlies in a week
so might get out if lucky!
